God at the Center of Ministry

The lecture emphasizes that God must be the center and goal of ministry. Ministry should not be limited to conveying information or teaching lessons, but should first and foremost present God to people and lead them into a true relationship with Him.
His Holiness Pope Shenouda III explains that the servant is not an end in himself, but merely an instrument that prepares hearts to receive God. He warns against turning ministry into a means of building oneself, gaining fame, or gathering followers, because this places the self in the place of God within ministry.
The lecture also explains that all subjects of Church teaching, whether doctrines, Holy Mysteries, the Gospel, or liturgical rites, should lead people to the love of God and communion with Him, rather than remaining mere information or intellectual concepts.
It explains that the Church’s Holy Mysteries, such as Baptism, Chrism, and the Eucharist, are living means of union with God and enjoyment of His grace. Therefore, they should be presented as an encounter with God Himself.
The lecture also emphasizes that studying the lives of the saints should not focus on the individuals themselves, but on God’s work in their lives and how He led them to holiness, so that listeners may see the glory of God working in His saints.
It also calls for connecting every situation in life with God, whether in teaching, visitation, raising children, or resisting sin, so that a person may feel that God is present in every detail of life.
The lecture explains that abandoning sin should be motivated by preserving communion with God, not merely by fear or shame, because the true goal of the spiritual life is attachment to God.
The lecture concludes by affirming that the foundation of ministry is building a relationship between humanity and God, and that the Kingdom itself is the eternal enjoyment of God. Therefore, every ministry and every teaching should lead souls to God alone.
