Talking During Prayers

Talking During Prayers
Many people talk to one another during prayers, whether during the Divine Liturgy or other liturgical services, such as the Sacrament of Baptism or the Sacrament of Marriage.
Talking during prayer reflects a lack of attention to the prayer itself and a lack of participation. It also shows indifference toward order, toward the feelings of the celebrating priest, and toward the rest of those present who are participating in prayer with their hearts, minds, and ears.
This is a mistake that should be avoided, and the congregation should be made aware of it.
We must train our people to respect the church and its prayers, and to understand that the time of prayer is a time for contemplation and heartfelt participation, not a time for commenting on what the worshippers hear or see.
Spiritually and socially, this behavior is not appropriate.
