seriousness is the essence of successful ministry, and that the faithful servant understands that ministry is a trust entrusted to him by the Church, for which he will be accountable before God, the Church, and the father of confession.

Understanding the Nature of Ministry

Seriousness begins with understanding the nature and responsibility of ministry toward those being served at a specific stage of life, because neglecting this stage may lead to their spiritual loss, and the servant is responsible for teaching and caring for them with awareness and commitment.

Preparation and Care

Seriousness includes proper preparation for the lesson and the servant’s preparation of himself, whether by organizing information, selecting appropriate verses, stories, and exercises, and not relying on previous experience without preparation.

Visitation and Solving Problems

Ministry is not only a lesson, but also pastoral visitation and care, and serious handling of the general and personal problems of those being served, either directly or by guiding them to the father of confession or to someone who can help them spiritually.

Means and Prayer

Seriousness appears in using appropriate illustrative means, and in continuous prayer for the ministry and for cases that need divine help.

Example and Growth

The serious servant is a blameless example, cares for his virtues and spirituality, and seeks the growth of the ministry and the growth of those being served in both number and quality, so that the ministry may bear fruits of repentance and strong spiritual life; otherwise, negligence becomes a responsibility before God.
