Reflections in the Sky

⬇️ تحميل الفيديو

His Holiness Pope Shenouda III explains the meaning of heaven and its importance as a subject of spiritual contemplation, affirming that a person’s spiritual life is not completed unless their thoughts rise above earthly matters and become attached to heaven, where the glory of God dwells, and where holiness and purity exist.

🕊 The Spiritual Essence of the Lecture

  • Heaven is one of the main topics of contemplation, because the earth cannot raise a person spiritually as heaven does.

  • The saints lived in constant longing for heaven, because it is the place of God’s glory, the perfect fulfillment of His will, and complete purity.

  • “Heaven is God’s throne” expresses His glory and greatness, while the earth is His footstool; therefore, the believer should direct their heart and mind toward heaven.

  • A human being is composed of a heavenly part (the spirit) and an earthly part (the body), and must nourish the heavenly part to be prepared for eternal life.

  • Christ calls us to store our treasures in heaven, because the heart will always be where the treasure is.

  • The saints in heaven encourage the striving believers on earth, as a “cloud of witnesses” watching and strengthening their spiritual struggle.

  • The heavenly Jerusalem is the dwelling of the conquerors, where the person lives in eternal glory with God, the angels, and the saints.

  • Among the greatest glories of heaven: the crown of righteousness, spiritual knowledge, and complete fellowship with God.

  • Therefore, Pope Shenouda calls every person to think about heaven and prepare for it through repentance, struggle, and love.
