Positive Work

The lecture of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III speaks about the importance of positive constructive work in the life of a person and church service, instead of being occupied with negativity and criticizing mistakes.
His Holiness Pope Shenouda III explains that many people waste their energy and nerves attacking evil and mistakes, while what is spiritually required is planting goodness and building souls.
He explains that the Lord Jesus Christ Himself focused throughout His ministry on teaching, doing good, and serving people, and He did not make His ministry based on attacking others, but He continuously worked positive work that attracted people to truth and love.
The lecture also presents a clear example from church history in the person of Habib Girgis, who did not waste his time in conflicts or attacks, but cared about building the Clerical College and Sunday Schools, so his work remained and bore fruit through generations.
The lecture explains that continuous occupation with negativity leads to wasting energies, losing inner peace, and losing meekness, cheerfulness, and humility. The person who lives in constant conflicts gradually turns into harshness, nervousness, and judging others.
His Holiness Pope Shenouda III also warns that a person may become occupied with people’s mistakes and forget his own sins, thus falling into pride and judging others in the name of zeal for principles.
He confirms that the true cure for evil is not by fighting people or entering into disputes, but by planting wheat and spreading love, words of comfort, and peace. The Christian person is called to be a light that shines, not a voice that curses darkness.
The lecture concludes with a deep spiritual idea, which is that productive positive work is the beneficial path for building both the church and the soul together, and that kind words and righteous deeds can change hearts more than conflict and attacks.
