Poem by Abu Kasra on his throne

⬇️ تحميل الفيديو

His Holiness Pope Shenouda III reflects on the theme of filial pride and gratitude through the poetic phrase: “And my father, like Khosrow on his throne — where among men is there a father like mine?” He explains that this question is not asked to seek an answer but as an expression of admiration and pride, for the speaker already knows that no one equals his father.

The Pope shows how poetic language can transcend literal meaning to express deeper emotion and beauty. Though the line takes the form of a question, it truly conveys love and reverence for the father.

Through this reflection, His Holiness highlights the importance of honoring one’s family roots, respecting one’s father as a symbol of sacrifice, wisdom, and guidance. Such pride, he explains, is not arrogance but heartfelt gratitude toward those who gave life and moral strength.

The spiritual message is that true pride is built on love and thankfulness, not on vanity — just as a child rejoices in his earthly father, so should the believer take joy and pride in his Heavenly Father, the source of life and light.
