Famous Women in the Bible and History

The history of the Holy Bible is filled with famous women: among them the prophetess, the judge, the worshipper, the queen, the counselor, and also the ordinary woman: the wife, the daughter, and the mother-in-law.

Among them are the saint, the sinner, the deaconess, the evangelist, and the stumbling block.

In the Bible we see women who were examples to men, women whose homes were churches, and women who saved an entire people.

We also see woman in her weaknesses and shortcomings.

We would like to dedicate a special section in El-Keraza Magazine, whether concerning famous women in history, their place in the Church, or their current activities in ministry.

As for the Christian woman in history, this also is a broad subject: in it we find holy queens such as Helena, great martyrs such as Demiana, Thecla, and Rebecca, ascetic nuns such as Mother Sarah and Saint Melania, female pilgrims such as Mary the Egyptian, repentant women such as Pelagia… and deaconesses such as Anastasia… etc.

Whether we study the lives of women in the Bible or in history, we find in their lives either a sermon or a lesson.

And we find woman as a being working alongside man, a helper comparable to him, having her own position and importance.

Neither did the Bible neglect her, nor did history forget her. So what is the story of woman in the Bible and in history??
