Commemoration of the Departure of Pope Kyrillos VI
On March 9, 1971, His Holiness Pope Kyrillos VI reposed in the Lord, after a long period spent in the service of the Lord, in solitude, worship, asceticism, and in pastoral care at its highest ranks.
His Holiness established the Monastery of Saint Mina in Mariut, took interest in establishing general bishoprics, founded churches in America and Australia, built the Great Cathedral at Anba Rouis, and returned the relics of Saint Mark to it. He also strengthened the relationship of the Coptic Church with the other churches.
His Holiness was a lover of monasticism and solitude, abundant in prayer and worship. He greatly loved Saint Mina, and his monastic name was ‘Hegumen Mina the Solitary.’
May God grant rest to his soul in the Paradise of Bliss. Celebrations of this remembrance will be held at the Monastery of Saint Mina in Mariut, where his pure body rests.
