Wise Women

• How wonderful are the wise women whom the Holy Bible mentioned and blessed.

• Perhaps at their forefront are the five wise virgins who had the quality of continual readiness, whose lamps were lit and whose vessels were filled with oil. They entered joyfully into the wedding feast..

• They became a symbol for every wise soul in existence, able to prepare for the Kingdom.

• The mother of Moses the prophet was wise in her conduct, and likewise her daughter Miriam. Through wisdom they were able to save the child Moses from death, as well as ensure his proper upbringing.

• Ruth the Moabitess was wise in her treatment of her mother-in-law, and in winning Boaz, who became an ancestor of Christ.

• Abigail was a wise woman, who was able to save her husband from death, save David the prophet from avenging himself, and turn the entire situation to her advantage.

• Deborah was a wise woman, judge of all the people, a place of trust and a center of counsel.

• Queen Esther was wise in her conduct with the king, and in her management of the operation to save all her people.

• Rahab the harlot was also wise. She was able to guide the messengers in a way that deserved for her to receive salvation afterward.

• Mary the sister of Lazarus was wise, for she chose the good part which would not be taken away from her, and did not become troubled like her sister over many things.

• Thus she became a symbol of the life of contemplation.

• Wisdom is not limited to men, for there are many women who attained honors, and the Lord praised the wisdom that was in them.
