The Sermon on the Mount – Love your enemies

⬇️ تحميل الفيديو

The lecture discusses Christ’s commandment to love enemies, explaining that the teaching “hate your enemy” is not from the Bible but a wrong interpretation added by the scribes and Pharisees. The divine teaching confirms that love must include everyone without exception, even enemies and offenders.

💡 Correcting the Misconception

His Holiness Pope Shenouda III emphasizes that God never called for hating any person, but rather for hating evil only. True love does not distinguish between neighbor and enemy but embraces all.

❤️ Spiritual Elevation in Love

Christianity is not satisfied with tolerance or forgiveness only, but rises to loving enemies, blessing them, doing good to them, and praying for them. This is the peak of spiritual life.

✝️ Imitating God

God makes His sun rise on the righteous and the wicked, and sends rain on the good and the unjust. Therefore, الإنسان is required to resemble God in His inclusive love and patience.

🙏 Practical Application

Love is not just feelings but practical behavior:

  • Not returning offense with offense
  • Praying for offenders
  • Seeking the good in others
  • Blessing those who harm

🕊️ Sonship to God

Sonship to God is not a title but a lived life. Whoever loves, does righteousness, and forgives shows that he is a son of God.

⚖️ Rising Above Reciprocity

Christianity calls a person to rise above natural reactions, not to deal with others in the same way, but with unconditional love.

🌿 Spiritual Goal

Reaching Christian perfection: “Be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect,” through loving everyone without exception.
