Lecture Summary

The lecture speaks about the importance of the deep and steadfast relationship with God, considering it the foundation of the true spiritual life for the believing person. His Holiness Pope Shenouda III explains that a person cannot live in inner peace or spiritual stability away from God, because God is the source of life, strength, and consolation.

The Relationship with God Is Based on Love

His Holiness Pope Shenouda III points out that the relationship with God is not merely formal worships or external rituals, but rather a relationship of love and continuous fellowship with God. The true believer longs for God and seeks Him with a pure heart and continual prayer.

Prayer Is a Means of Steadfastness

The lecture confirms that prayer is the bridge that connects the person with God, and that whenever a person draws near to God in prayer, he feels peace, comfort, and spiritual strength. Reading the Holy Bible and meditating on it also help the growth of this relationship.

Repentance Preserves the Relationship

His Holiness Pope Shenouda III explains that sin weakens the relationship between the person and God, but sincere repentance restores the person once again to the bosom of God. God accepts every soul that returns to Him with sincerity and humility.

Fruits of the Relationship with God

The true relationship with God appears in the person’s life through love, gentleness, inner peace, and patience. Whenever a person grows spiritually, this is reflected in his dealings with others and in his daily life.

The Spiritual Message

The lecture focuses on the importance that a person should always place God first in his life and preserve his relationship with God through prayer, repentance, and love, because this relationship is the source of salvation and true joy.
