In this section, we will publish each week a simple remark or a piece of advice… pertaining to idealism in journalistic work.
The ideal journalist is the journalist who is characterized by honesty and accuracy.
Therefore, his news has value, because it represents precise truth. For this reason, he gains people’s trust and their interest in what he publishes.
But the journalist who publishes any news that reaches him without examination loses people’s trust whenever they discover an error in what he publishes or a lack of accuracy. They pay no attention to his news and do not take it seriously.
The ideal journalist examines every piece of news that reaches him with precise scrutiny before announcing it to the public. And if the news concerns someone, he first investigates with complete integrity. He does not take matters from only one side, but rather gives the other side its full due—before publication, not after it…
