📌 First: The Connection Between the Holy Spirit and Oil

  • Oil is not only a symbol; it is a real tool through which the Holy Spirit works in the sacraments.

  • Through the holy chrism, the believer receives the anointing, the seal, and the abiding of the Spirit in him.

  • The sacred anointing began in the days of Moses and was used to consecrate priests, kings, prophets, vessels, and the tabernacle.

📌 Second: The Work of the Holy Spirit Through the Priesthood

  • Every consecration or granting of spiritual authority was done through a mediator chosen by God:
the anointing of Aaron, of David, of Jehu… all performed by God’s servants.

  • God works through the Church, not outside it, and all giving of the Spirit happens through the lawful channel He established.

📌 Third: Oil in the Life of the Ordinary Believer

  • Through the anointing, the believer receives:
the seal – the grace – the knowledge – the earnest of the Spirit.

  • Oil gives light, as in the golden lampstand, where the wick only shines when saturated with oil.
Likewise, the believer cannot shine unless filled with the Holy Spirit.

📌 Fourth: Oil as Blessing and Healing

  • The Holy Spirit works through oil in two sacraments:
Chrismation – the Anointing of the Sick.

  • Oil gives spiritual freshness, vitality, and joy because it represents the work of the Spirit in the person.

📌 Fifth: The Olive Tree as a Symbol of the Church

  • The Church is compared to an olive tree because it carries oil, meaning the Holy Spirit.

  • Believers are “children of oil,” filled with the richness and work of the Spirit.

  • The Mount of Olives became a place of Christ’s presence because it symbolizes the work of the Spirit.

📌 Sixth: Extracting Oil and Spiritual Struggle

  • Oil comes out of olives only by pressing; likewise, the Spirit works deeply in us through enduring hardships.

  • He concludes with a call for us to become green olive trees in the house of the Lord, filled with the Spirit, shining by His work in us.
