The lecture presents a comprehensive theological and liturgical explanation of the Eucharistic Bread (Qorban) in the Coptic Orthodox Church, addressing its meaning, preparation, spiritual symbolism, and its central role in the Sacrament of the Eucharist.

🕊️ Second: The Qorban as a Means of Approaching God

The Qorban is not ordinary bread to be bought or sold, but a sacred offering through which a person draws near to God. Therefore, it must be made inside the church and given freely to the people, with voluntary offerings, since its essence is offering, not commerce.

🔥 Third: Conditions for Preparing the Qorban

The Qorban must be made from pure wheat flour, prepared by a deacon or an ordained church servant, in a designated place inside the church called “Bethlehem,” while reciting psalms and praises, and maintaining bodily and spiritual purity.

🍞 Fourth: Theological Symbols of the Qorban

The Qorban symbolizes the Body of Christ offered on our behalf and bearing the sins of humanity. The five holes symbolize the wounds of the Cross, and the leaven does not represent Christ’s sinlessness, but rather His bearing of the sins of the people in redemption.

⛪ Fifth: The Lamb Offering and the Eucharist

The Lamb Offering is the only Qorban that enters the sanctuary and is placed on the altar, because it alone is consecrated to become the Holy Body. The remaining Qorban is distributed as a blessing to the people (Eulogia).

🙏 Sixth: Purity and Preparation

The priest prepares himself through deep prayers expressing unworthiness, washing of hands, and wearing white garments, all of which symbolize the purity required to offer this holy sacrifice.

🌿 Seventh: The Qorban and Intercessory Requests

The Qorban carries not only the sins of the people, but also their prayers and requests. Therefore, litanies and supplications are offered during the liturgy, as the sacrifice is presented on behalf of all.

🌟 Eighth: The Sanctity of the Sacrament

The sanctification of the Qorban takes place through the descent of the Holy Spirit. After this descent, the priest handles the Qorban as the true Body of the Lord, with utmost reverence and precision, honoring the holiness of the sacrament.
