Success

The lecture speaks about the concept of true success from a Coptic Orthodox spiritual perspective. It explains that success is not merely academic excellence or material achievement, but a comprehensive state that includes spiritual life, behavior, relationships, and attachment to God. True success is measured by the end, not by beginnings or temporary stages.
First: The Meaning of True Success
Success is a divine commandment and a blessing from God, and it is a sign of God’s work with a person. A spiritual person must be successful in everything he does, just as Joseph the Righteous and David the Prophet were, because God Himself is successful in all His works, and whoever bears His image should reflect this success.
Second: Spiritual Success Before Material Success
Success is not limited to exams or worldly gains. It includes success in spiritual life, family life, relationships, and service. True success is the success of the soul first, while material success without spiritual depth is false and temporary.
Third: The Success of the Wicked – A False Reality
It may appear that the wicked succeed, but this success is temporary and false, like smoke that soon disappears. God may allow such success as an act of divine justice or as a temporal reward, but it is not spiritual success and does not last forever.
Fourth: Success Is Measured by the End, Not the Beginning
Difficult beginnings or temporary failure do not mean true failure. Success is measured by the end. Many saints had hard beginnings but ended with glorified lives because they endured and remained steadfast in God’s way.
Fifth: Conditions for Spiritual Success
Success requires patience, endurance, inner strength, lack of despair, trust in God, wisdom, balance, flexibility, and avoidance of pride and stubbornness. It also requires a clear goal, a sound means, and steady movement toward that goal.
Conclusion
True success is a lasting spiritual success, built on God’s work in a person’s life, not a superficial or temporary success. Whoever walks with God, no matter how much he stumbles, can rise again and continue the journey until reaching a good end.
