Romans 12: As God Has Allotted to Each One a Measure of Faith – Part 7

Main Idea
Pope Shenouda III speaks about true faith, explaining that it is not merely intellectual belief or theoretical knowledge of God’s existence, but a practical faith that appears in a person’s life and daily relationship with God.
A true believer feels God’s presence with him continually, sees Him through faith, and trusts in His love, care, and providence.
Faith enables a person to surrender his life to God without anxiety or disturbance because he trusts that God is working and that all things work together for good for those who love God.
Spiritual Message
The fruits of true faith are inner peace, reassurance, joy, and steadfastness, even in the midst of trials and difficulties.
A believer does not make his faith dependent on his feelings or external circumstances, but remains steadfast in his faith in God’s attributes, love, wisdom, and care.
The Pope also emphasizes that the believer does not deal with God merely as a God of occasions, but accepts Him as a Father, Friend, and Lover, and lives with Him in a continual relationship.
Accepting Christ and entering into a relationship of love and friendship with Him is an essential part of true faith.
Educational Lesson
The teaching explains that virtues are interconnected; faith leads to peace, calmness, and reassurance, and also leads to purity, holiness, and prayer.
Weak faith makes a person full of doubt, complaint, murmuring, and anxiety, while strong faith enables him to trust in God’s will and accept it with joy and thanksgiving.
The Pope emphasizes that faith goes beyond the limits of human reasoning, enabling a person to trust in God’s power even when things appear difficult or impossible.
Practical Application
The practical application is for a person to surrender his life to God, leave his worries and problems in His hands, and occupy himself with God through prayer and a continual relationship with Him.
The believer should keep in his heart the truth that all things work together for good for those who love God and that all things are possible for the believer, allowing these truths to become firm supports for his faith.
True faith enables a person to live in peace, joy, and hope without being shaken when circumstances change, because he trusts that God is present and working for his good.
