Do Not Despair
The good shepherd does not despair of anyone, no matter how bad his condition may be.
A priest’s despair causes him to neglect the sinner, so that he neither visits him nor seeks to correct him.
Moreover, this attitude spreads despair into the sinner’s own soul, thereby driving him toward destruction.
Such despair is contrary to the way of the loving God, who does not desire the death of the sinner, but rather that he should return and live.
Therefore, encourage the fainthearted, and open a door of hope before everyone.
