Question:
What is the meaning of the word “Selah” found in the Psalms?
Answer:
The word “Selah” means a musical pause. For the Psalms were—at that time—composed, sung, and accompanied by music played on several instruments such as the harp, the flute, the ten-stringed lyre, the trumpet, and the lute, etc., under the leadership of well-known musicians. Sometimes, the word “Selah” gives a sign for a musical pause.
