Great Saints Who Were Young Men
• Saints Maximus and Domadius were two young men, yet they attained a high degree in monasticism, and the Monastery of Paromeos was built in their name.
• Saints Cosmas and Damian were also young men.
• Saint Mina the Wonderworker was a young man when he began the monastic life. It was said that he was martyred at the age of 23.
• Saint Theodore, the disciple of Pachomius, was a young man, yet he established about eight monasteries and personally supervised and administered them.
• Saint Athanasius the Apostolic was a young man and a deacon when he led the Ecumenical Council of Nicaea in the faith concerning the Divinity of Christ.
• Saint John the Short was a young man, yet he became a guide to many, to the extent that it was said that he held all of Scetis by his finger.
• Saint Misael the Anchorite was a young man. He began the monastic life as a youth and attained the rank of wandering asceticism at the age of seventeen, or shortly thereafter.
