The lecture presents the Holy Spirit as the Giving Spirit, who pours out God’s gifts without measure. His Holiness Pope Shenouda III explains that giving is a divine attribute and that everything a person possesses—life, existence, grace, gifts, and virtues—is a gift from God through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit granted life to creation and continues to provide believers with everything they need spiritually and physically.

Spiritual Message

The Pope emphasizes that the Holy Spirit grants spiritual gifts, as described by the Apostle Paul, distributing them to each person according to God’s will and for the benefit of the Church. He also explains that the fruits of the Spirit, such as love, joy, peace, gentleness, and self-control, are not human achievements but divine gifts. Therefore, no one should boast in themselves, because every good thing within them comes from God alone.

Educational Lesson

The lecture teaches that the believer’s life should be founded on continual prayer and on constantly asking for the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit grants wisdom, the right word, repentance, faith, strength, and the grace needed for every ministry. Realizing that everything is a gift from God leads a person to live a life of thanksgiving, humility, and confidence in God’s care.

Practical Application

His Holiness encourages believers to imitate the Holy Spirit in the virtue of giving. Giving is not limited to material possessions but also includes love, kind words, a smile, encouragement, comfort, wise counsel, service, and helping those in need even before they ask. He urges believers to live continually in prayer and thanksgiving, recognizing that everything they have is God’s gift, so that they themselves become a source of goodness and generosity toward others.
