We want the deacons’ choirs to be careful to maintain harmony in the hymn, so that everyone performs all their hymns as though they were one voice, with no discord.
No one should rise above the vocal pitch of another. Nor should anyone try to precede the rest in the performance.
Nor should they perform the hymn with a different lead, and none of them should try to correct the others by making a change that everyone notices…
In all this, the self becomes evident.
And it appears to the listeners that the deacons are not one spirit nor one melody.
