Church Decorations and the Poor

Church Decorations and the Poor
We have received many complaints that numerous churches are greatly concerned with making the church building look beautiful, spending tens or even hundreds of thousands on decorations and ornamentation, while at the same time neglecting the poor and the needs of people whose lives may be adversely affected because they lack the financial means to resolve their difficulties.
This may be because some members of church boards do not live closely enough with the sufferings of the people and are not in direct touch with their problems. Or perhaps some consider the construction and beautification of the church to be a visible and lasting good, whereas the assistance given to those in need is viewed as something temporary and less noticeable.
