Our God Who Cares for Everyone

The Lord did not care only for the strong, but also for those who became weak and doubted…

So He appeared to Peter who had denied Him, and who because of this denial was in severe psychological distress and in need of a word of comfort… So He said it to him and comforted his soul. He even said to him: “Feed My sheep” (John 21:17), “Feed My lambs” (John 21:15).

And He appeared to Mary Magdalene, the young woman who used to go repeatedly to the tomb with every visit, and who stood outside weeping…

And He appeared to Thomas who doubted His resurrection, and who insisted that he would not believe unless he put his finger in the place of the nails.

So He comforted him and made him touch the place of His nails… and He said to him: “Do not be unbelieving, but believing” (John 20:27)…

And Thomas believed and said: “My Lord and my God” (John 20:28). And the Lord continued going about strengthening His disciples.

So He appeared to the twelve, who when they saw Him thought He was a ghost or a spirit…

And He said to them: A spirit does not have flesh and bones… “Handle Me and see” (Luke 24:39).

And He appeared to the two disciples of Emmaus, who were slow of understanding regarding what the prophets had spoken, and who thought that He was merely a prophet mighty in deed and word.

So He explained to them. And these two believed in His resurrection…

How wonderful is the Lord in His care for everyone, and in granting strength to the weak… and granting faith to the doubting…

And He was not satisfied with this, but continued appearing to the eleven for forty days, speaking to them about the things pertaining to His kingdom, and delivering to them how the Church should be governed, and all that they would teach the people (Acts 1:3)…

And even Saul of Tarsus, who was persecuting the Church excessively, He also did not deprive of His care, but appeared to him in a great light, and called him to death… and also to service.

And He gained this soul, and transformed him into an apostle. And through him He also cared for the Gentiles in order to bring them into His kingdom.
