Zajal: In the Name of the One God
This sermon reflects on the attributes of the one true God, who has no equal in eternity, power, or glory, and calls for worship and glorification of Him alone, as the source of all existence, life, and creation — the Lord of time and eternity.
Spiritual Meaning:
-
Pope Shenouda III begins by affirming that God alone is eternal and infinite, without beginning or end, unrestricted by time or space.
-
God alone is the self-existent Being, whose existence depends on nothing, while everything else depends on Him.
-
He is the Creator and the One to be worshiped, from whom life and death come, and through whom all things exist.
-
No place can contain Him, for He Himself created space and time, ruling over all with supreme authority.
-
He alone is worthy of praise and worship — every hand lifted and every knee bowed should be for Him only.
-
Humanity must not associate any partner with Him, for He alone enlightens hearts and holds human destinies in His hand.
-
The reflection concludes with a call to glorify God in His supreme majesty and to praise Him by all His holy names, acknowledging His holiness, love, and power.
Faith Message:
Human beings are called to know God as He truly is — the one eternal, creator, and worshiped Lord — giving Him alone all glory, honor, and worship with pure hearts and faithful devotion.
