The Virtue of Wisdom
Every virtue among the virtues should be mingled with wisdom; otherwise it would not be considered a virtue at all…
It is good for you to have holy zeal, but it should be mingled with wisdom; and it is good to pray, fast, and serve, provided that all this is done with wisdom…
Therefore, when the seven deacons were chosen, the apostles stipulated that they be “full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom.”
And in the discourse of the Lord Christ about the shepherds, He said: “Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season…?”
All the works of God are “made with wisdom.”
And the Scripture says: “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom” (Jas 3).
And it explained to us the qualities of this wisdom “that is from above”…
