The Sin of Pride (2)

All Its Victims Are Mighty
Just as Satan fell through pride, “I will be like the Most High” (Isaiah 4:14), so he also worked to bring down our first parents through pride, likewise: “you will be like God, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:5).
And this human whom pride shattered and cast down from his original rank was not insignificant, but was the image and likeness of God…
God said: “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over the cattle, over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him (Genesis 1:26, 27).
Thus man was the image of God. And he had dominion over the earth and all the creatures in it. Yet this mighty one fell, and fell through pride. This one whom God blessed and said to him, “fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion…”
And the children of Adam and Eve were also pursued by this sin, and it destroyed them…
