The Priest and Leadership ج1

First: The Main Idea of the Lecture
The lecture revolves around the role of the priest in forming leadership within the Church, caring for it, and dealing with it, considering that Church service cannot be built on one individual, but rather on organized collective work based on partnership and spiritual responsibility.
Second: Forming Leadership
His Holiness Pope Shenouda III emphasizes that preparing leadership is an essential necessity, because a priest cannot do everything alone. Forming leadership includes proper selection, spiritual preparation, knowledge, and practical training, while considering that each type of service requires suitable qualities and talents. He also stresses that preparation does not mean forming loyal groups or defensive forces, but rather faithful servants filled with the Holy Spirit, wisdom, and competence.
Third: Caring for Leadership
Caring for leadership means spiritual and administrative follow-up without flattery or negligence, with accountability and evaluation of the work. Pointing out mistakes should be done with wisdom and gentleness, without granting absolute authority without supervision. Care is not control, but guidance and continuous building.
Fourth: Dealing with Leadership
Proper dealing with leadership is based on respect, valuing everyone who serves, and not breaking personalities. The goal is the success of the work, not strengthening the priest’s position. Leadership is an art, a talent, and training that requires flexibility, wisdom, and practical experience.
The General Spiritual Message
True Church service is built on partnership, humility, proper selection, and faithful care, so that the Church may be built in love and order, and everything may be for the glory of God and the salvation of souls.
