The Attributes of God – Judge of All Creation

His Holiness Pope Shenouda III explains that one of the essential attributes of God, which distinguishes Him from all creation, is that He is the Judge of all creation, the righteous One who judges the whole world with justice and truth.
🔹 God Judges with Perfect Knowledge:
God does not judge merely by His divine authority but because He knows everything about man: what he has done, thought, desired, and intended. Nothing is hidden from Him, even what man plans to do. Therefore, His judgment is perfectly just.
🔹 Biblical Foundation:
His Holiness refers to Abraham’s words in Genesis: “Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”, and to the Psalms which declare that God judges the world with righteousness, as recited in the Ninth Hour prayers.
🔹 The Divinity of Christ in Judgment:
Judgment is proof of Christ’s divinity, for judging the whole creation belongs only to God. When the Gospel of John (chapter 5) says that the Father has given all judgment to the Son, it reveals clearly that Christ is God, knowing all things and judging righteously.
🔹 Spiritual Dimension:
The believer must live with reverence before the righteous Judge who sees all things, striving for purity in deeds and sincerity in heart. Knowing that God judges in justice instills holy fear and encourages continual repentance and readiness to meet the Lord.
