First: The Role of the Angels in the Resurrection of Christ

The lecture contemplates the great role played by the angels in the event of the Resurrection of the Lord Christ. They appeared at the tomb, and one of them rolled away the stone, and they announced the good news of the Resurrection to the women saying: “Why do you seek the Living among the dead? He is not here, but He has risen as He said.” Here the angels appear as servants of the mystery of salvation, witnessing to the Resurrection and reminding of the Lord’s previous words.

Second: The Nature of the Angels and Their Service

The angels are ministering spirits sent from God to serve those who will inherit salvation. They are characterized by purity, power, and complete obedience. They execute God’s will without argument or delay. They are not only announcers, but also executors of God’s judgments, as appears in the events of the Holy Scripture.

Third: The Angels Throughout the Stages of Christ’s Life

The angels accompanied the Lord Christ in all stages of His life: in the Annunciation, the Nativity, the temptation on the mountain, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Resurrection, and the Ascension, and they will also accompany Him in His Second Coming. They knew His divinity even at the time of His self-emptying, and they served Him while fully aware of His divine reality.

Fourth: Jesus the Crucified Is the Risen Living One

Despite the glory of the Resurrection and the Ascension, the title “Jesus the Crucified” remained attached to Christ, because it carries the meaning of redemption, love, and self-giving. The Crucifixion was not weakness, but authority and love that He chose by His own will. Through it He conquered death and forgave sins. Therefore, we take pride in the Cross and hold fast to it as the sign of our salvation.

Fifth: The Angels in the Life of the Believer

The believer has a continual relationship with the angels; they encamp around those who fear the Lord and deliver them, and they lift up the prayers of the saints like incense before God. The Church mentions them in her prayers and asks for their help and protection. The believer is called to resemble them in purity, obedience, and carrying out the will of God.

Sixth: The Call to Resemble the Angels

Just as the faithful angels succeeded in their trial and kept their purity, so the human being is called to struggle in order to receive the crown of righteousness. The goal is that God’s will be fulfilled on earth as it is in heaven, and that man may become like the angels of God in obedience, purity, and glory.

The General Message:
The lecture affirms that the angels are witnesses of the Resurrection and servants of God’s will, and it calls us to deep faith in the Resurrection of “Jesus the Crucified,” and to live in obedience and purity according to the example of the angels, in preparation for eternal life in fellowship with the heavenly hosts.
