Some Responses to Certain Ideas of Jehovah’s Witnesses

In this lecture, His Holiness Pope Shenouda III responds to several teachings of Jehovah’s Witnesses, clarifying the doctrinal errors they hold when compared with the true Orthodox Christian faith.
🔹 On the Nature of Angels:
His Holiness explains that angels are not physical beings and do not marry, as stated in Matthew 22:30. Claims about angels taking bodies or marrying humans are unscriptural.
🔹 On the Immortality of Angels:
He teaches that angels were created immortal, not subject to destruction, opposing the belief of Jehovah’s Witnesses who restrict immortality to God alone.
🔹 On the Divinity of Christ:
Pope Shenouda refutes the claim that Christ is merely a creature or a “small god.” He emphasizes that Christ is fully God, the Creator of all things, as the Book of Isaiah (chapter 9) declares His eternal divinity and rulership.
🔹 On the Error of Equating Christ with Michael:
The Pope firmly rejects the notion that Michael the Archangel is Christ, showing from Hebrews 1 that Christ is far above the angels. Only Christ was called the Son — “You are My Son, today I have begotten You” — and the angels were commanded to worship Him.
🔹 Main Message:
The lecture defends the Orthodox Christian doctrine, affirming that Christ is God incarnate, eternally the Son of God, not a creature or angel, and that angels are spiritual servants who worship God but do not share His divine nature.
