Reconciliation with God

The Main Idea of the Lecture
The lecture addresses a clear divine call to reconcile with God, explaining that sin is what created hostility between man and his Creator, and that Christ came to accomplish reconciliation and remove the separating barrier. But when a person returns to sin, he rebuilds this barrier himself, losing the warmth of the first love, the intimacy, and the spiritual longing.
The Danger of Continuing in Hostility
Persisting in sin turns hostility into enmity, for love of the world distances the heart from God. The more a person moves away from spiritual life, the more he becomes easy prey to weakness, loses the sense of God’s presence, and his prayer becomes without spirit, his service without warmth, and his worship merely a habit.
God Is the Initiator of Reconciliation
God is the One who seeks reconciliation, knocking on the door of the heart and calling man to return. He sent the apostles and prophets and gave the Church the ministry of reconciliation, and repentance is the practical way of returning. For God does not desire the destruction of man but his salvation, and He awaits a sincere response from the heart.
The Conditions of True Reconciliation
Reconciliation is not merely temporary emotion or passing promises, but it requires:
- A sincere desire to return to God.
- Firm determination and practical implementation of repentance.
- Spiritual struggle and asking for the help of divine grace.
- Staying away from the causes of sin and closing the doors leading to it.
- A quick response to the inner voice of God without hardness of heart.
Living in the Spiritual Sphere
Stability in reconciliation requires a continual spiritual life: prayer, the Holy Bible, repentance, meditation, and spiritual meetings. Moving away from these means weakens a person, but living in them fortifies him against evil.
Not Regretting Leaving Sin
Whoever reconciles with God should not regret what he left for His sake, but rejoice in salvation. Looking back exposes a person to falling. True reconciliation produces an actual change in life, and renewal in thought, heart, and behavior.
The Spiritual Fruit of Reconciliation
When a person is in peace with God, he enjoys divine protection and inner peace, and feels that God’s hand is holding him. Reconciliation means a new life, an eternal perspective, and a constant readiness to stand before the righteous Judge.
