Question
My confession father has been ill for a long time, and I have not been able to confess. Should I then remain without confession, since it is not permissible for me to change him according to the laws of the Church?
Answer
If you are completely unable to confess to your confession father due to his illness, or because of his travel, or your travel, it is permissible for you to confess to any other father, and this is not considered a change of the confession father. Rather, it is considered an exceptional measure for a temporary period, so that you do not remain without confession and without Communion. When the reasons cease, you may return to your confession father, after he recovers by the will of the Lord, or after returning from travel in the case of travel.
