Power in Service

The lecture talks about the necessity for spiritual service to be strong and successful, because the servant is the image and likeness of God, and God is powerful, so the service must show its power in its effect, depth, and fruit, and weak service leads to loss of youth and decreasing spiritual growth.
Biblical examples of powerful service
The lecture cites the service of John the Baptist who prepared a people for repentance, Peter who baptized three thousand in a single sermon, Paul who served in many cities and founded the church in Rome, and also mentions Stephen who was filled with faith and power and performed signs and wonders.
Causes of weak service and its consequences
An example is given of Sunday school branches where there are large numbers in primary but they decrease in secondary and youth; this is a sign that the service lacks power and fruit. The speaker described the condition as “spiritual anemia” that needs a new spiritual blood transfusion.
Characteristics of strong service and the strong servant
A strong service spreads its fruit in classes, church, and homes, and is driven by the Holy Spirit. A strong servant with an educational and spiritual personality can attract love, retain pupils, and bring forth real spiritual fruit.
Means to restore strength
Practical training, pairing new teachers with veteran servants, preparation and experience, and reviving the spirit by focusing on the work of the Holy Spirit and prayer of renewal.
Spiritual dimension from a Coptic Orthodox perspective
Power in service shows the work of the Holy Spirit in the church and the coming of the kingdom of God “with power.” Servants must ask for the presence of the Holy Spirit and work with love, prayer, and wisdom so that spiritual influence spreads and souls are saved, not that the service remain formal without life.
Practical exhortation
The lecture concludes with an exhortation to servants to imitate biblical models, examine themselves, work to strengthen the service through training, preparation, and prayer, and to strive that every branch be freed from weakness and become a service with impact.
