Joseph the Faithful
His Holiness Pope Shenouda III speaks in this sermon about Joseph the Righteous, the youngest among his brothers, yet great in spirituality. The Lord was with him throughout his life, making him successful in all he did.
1. The Grace of God with Him:
The Bible says: “The Lord was with him, and whatever he did, the Lord made it prosper.” This phrase reveals the secret of Joseph’s success—God’s presence in every step.
2. Surrounded by Love:
He was loved by his father Jacob, who gave him a colorful robe; loved by Potiphar, who placed him over his whole house; by Potiphar’s wife (though in a wrong way); by the prison keeper, who entrusted him with the other prisoners; and even by Pharaoh, who made him the second in command of Egypt.
3. Continuous Success:
Joseph prospered in every situation—at home, in Potiphar’s house, in prison, and in the palace. He represented the faithful young man who depends on God in all things, and thus finds success wherever he goes.
4. Wisdom and Management:
Joseph showed great strength of mind and wisdom in administration, becoming the greatest minister of supplies in Egypt’s history, caring not only for Egypt but also for surrounding nations.
5. A Spiritual Example for Youth:
Joseph stands as a model of holiness, purity, wisdom, and practical success—a young man loved by all because the Lord was with him always.
Spiritual Message:
True strength does not come from power or status but from the grace of God working within the faithful heart. Joseph is a living example of how righteousness and faith bring success and peace.
