He Who Does and Teaches

The Main Idea
The lecture explains that true greatness in the Kingdom of God is not measured by status or mere knowledge, but is fulfilled in the person who learns, practices, and then teaches, where teaching comes from real spiritual experience.
Spiritual Knowledge
The lecture emphasizes that knowledge is not مجرد reading, but a deep understanding of the spirit of the Holy Bible. Many may read without understanding, so a person needs divine guidance and continuous prayer for the mind to be opened to comprehend spiritual meanings.
The Importance of Practicing the Commandment
Practice is the foundation of spiritual life, because without applying the commandment, knowledge does not turn into life. A person experiences the commandment practically, faces its challenges, and through this experience grows spiritually.
The Relationship Between Knowledge, Practice, and Teaching
The correct sequence is:
- First: a person learns and understands
- Second: applies what he learned
- Third: teaches others from his experience
Teaching without practical experience is theoretical and ineffective.
The Danger of Teaching Without Experience
The lecture warns against rushing into teaching without practice, because this may lead to wrong or immature teaching, as happened with the scribes and Pharisees who knew the texts but did not understand their spirit.
Practice Then Teaching
The true spiritual person is the one who first walks in the path of virtue and struggles in it, and then becomes qualified to lead others with the same spirit and experience.
️ The Coptic Orthodox Spiritual Dimension
The Orthodox view confirms that true faith must be fruitful with works, and that works are not a substitute for faith but its natural fruit. Church teaching must remain faithful to the tradition received from the fathers.
The Essence of Spiritual Life
The focus is not on outward appearances but on purity of heart and inner virtues such as love, meekness, and inner peace, because these reflect the life of Christ in the person.
