Growth in Ministry

True and successful ministry is a continually growing ministry, similar to a living seed that grows gradually and bears fruit. A ministry that stops growing becomes weak and may decline.
First: The Concept of Growth in Ministry
His Holiness Pope Shenouda III explains that growth is an essential characteristic of ministry, as the Lord Christ likened it to a seed that starts small and then matures. A ministry that does not grow loses its spiritual vitality.
Second: The Two Types of Growth
Growth in ministry has two aspects:
- Quantitative growth: Increase in the number of those served and the geographical expansion of ministry.
- Spiritual qualitative growth: Deepening of spiritual life, stronger spiritual impact, and growth in love and holiness.
Third: Growth in Individual Life
It is not enough for numbers to increase; spiritual life must improve, knowledge must be practiced, and the personal relationship with God must grow until it reaches holiness and Christian perfection.
Fourth: Growth in All Areas of Ministry
Growth includes all fields of ministry: teaching, visitation, social service, evangelism, church libraries, educational tools, servant preparation, and proper organization.
Fifth: Obstacles to Growth
Internal conflicts, divisions, and limiting ministry to a narrow scope hinder growth and lead to the loss of souls. A divided ministry cannot grow.
Sixth: A Practical Call to Growth
The call is for serious ministry filled with spiritual energy and love for the Kingdom of God, following the example of the apostles such as Paul the Apostle and Saint Mark, where ministry is continuous movement, sacrifice, and love for the salvation of every soul.
