God’s care and protection
His Holiness Pope Shenouda contemplates the greatness of God and the beauty of His attributes which surpass human understanding. He begins with David the Prophet’s praise: “There is none like You, O God, among the gods,” explaining that meditating on God’s qualities leads to loving Him. God is perfect in all His attributes—unlimited in wisdom, boundless in justice, infinite in love, and existing everywhere and at all times. He cannot be confined or fully understood by the human mind.
The Pope shows how God’s care is revealed in creation: in the beauty of the universe and in the wondrous design of the human body. He explains that God alone is almighty, even over death, for He will raise all bodies from dust at the resurrection.
He speaks of God’s supreme authority over all creation, including Satan, who remains under God’s permission. The Pope highlights God’s amazing patience and long-suffering, showing His mercy and love.
He explains that true knowledge of God is given gradually, as much as humans can bear, because God’s light can only be endured by the pure in heart and the spiritually prepared.
He encourages believers to trust fully in God’s unlimited power, saying: “As long as God is with you, do not fear anything.” The almighty God cares for His children as He does for the small sparrow, and “He makes His sun rise on the righteous and the wicked.”
The essential message is that realizing God’s greatness leads to loving Him, and trusting His power brings deep peace to the believer’s heart.Tags: God’s_Power — Infinite
