Consecration

What does consecrating one’s life to God mean? It means that a person gives his entire life to God— all his time, all his effort, all his heart, and all his thought.
And he does no work except the work of God alone. Thus, the clergy were called the portion of the Lord, “Holy to the Lord.”

Whether in serving God through the priesthood in pastoral works, or serving God through contemplation and prayer in the monastic life, or combining both works together, as the Apostle Paul did.
There is also consecration in the service of deacons.
And another consecration for girls by giving all their time and their lives to God.
These either become nuns, or devote themselves to serving the Church in the works entrusted to them.

The work of God is vast and great, and it needs a large group of consecrated men and consecrated women, to devote themselves to the work of the Lord alone.
