Attributes of Allah – The Creator
The lecture explains the meaning of God as the Creator, distinguishing between a creator and a maker. A maker works with existing material, but God creates out of nothing — showing His divinity and unlimited power. His Holiness Pope Shenouda III teaches that everything in the universe — its order, beauty, and wisdom — reflects God’s nature as a Creator who loves beauty, order, and humility.
🕊 Main Idea
-
God alone can create from nothing, and this ability proves His divinity.
-
God created the universe wisely and gradually, preparing everything in perfect order for humanity.
-
Creation includes not only the earth and matter but also the heavens and spiritual beings such as angels.
-
God’s power appears in everything He made: in the order of the universe, the complexity of the human body, the diversity of creatures, and the laws of nature.
🌿 Spiritual and Educational Dimension (Coptic Orthodox View)
-
Faith that creation reveals God, and all beauty in it mirrors His glory.
-
Humanity is invited to contemplate nature as a way to glorify the Creator and understand His wisdom.
-
God did not only create great things like stars and planets but also small creatures like worms and ants, showing His humility and love for all beings.
-
Creation reflects God’s justice and compassion — He gives every being a means to live: the deer runs faster than the lion, and the worm hides under a stone.
-
Everything God made has a purpose, even darkness, which allows rest and balance in life.
🌟 Practical and Spiritual Call
-
Contemplation of creation should lead to praising and thanking God, not material attachment.
-
Learning from God’s example of calmness and order in His creation.
-
Realizing that God continues to create — every new life is a continuation of His creative act.
-
A call to humility before God’s greatness, since all human knowledge is only a glimpse of His mysteries.
