Types of wreaths
The meditation discusses the different crowns that God has prepared for His children in eternal life, based on the biblical verse in the Book of Revelation: “Hold fast to what you have, so that no one may take your crown.” The meditation explains that God has prepared multiple crowns for believers, which they receive as a result of their spiritual struggle, faithfulness, and victory in earthly life. Among the most important of these crowns are the Crown of Righteousness, the Crown of Life, the Crown of Glory, the Crown of Beauty and Splendor, and the Crown of Kingship. There are also special crowns associated with different spiritual callings and services, such as the Crown of Martyrdom, Monasticism, Virginity, Spiritual Struggle, Apostleship, and Priesthood.
Spiritual Message
The meditation explains that the Crown of Righteousness means reaching a life of complete righteousness in eternity, where sin comes to an end and the human being no longer knows it or falls into it. The Crown of Life refers to eternal life with God, where death comes to an end and the human being enjoys the blessedness of being in God’s presence. The Crown of Glory is the glory that God grants to His children, restoring the divine image in them and allowing them to share in the glory of the Resurrection and heavenly life. God also grants His children the Crown of Beauty and Splendor, through which human nature is manifested in light, holiness, and spiritual beauty. The meditation also explains that although complete glory belongs to God alone, He loves to glorify His children and grant them a share in His eternal glory.
Educational Lesson
The meditation emphasizes that earthly life is a period of testing for the human will, during which a person struggles to overcome sin and hold fast to goodness. It explains that the crowns God prepares are not temporary earthly glories, but eternal gifts that no one can take away from God’s children. It also explains that Baptism is the beginning of enjoying the crowns of grace, holiness, and glory; therefore, a person should preserve the purity received through it. It also points out that whoever can rule over their will, senses, and heart can reign with Christ in His glory.
Practical Application
The meditation invites us to preserve the crowns that God has granted us through grace and not to give them up because of sin or spiritual negligence. We should struggle faithfully, endure trials and sufferings, and remain steadfast in a life of holiness, righteousness, and love. We should also begin acquiring, from now on, a foretaste of eternal glory through purity of heart, spiritual beauty, and enjoying the freedom of God’s children. The meditation encourages us not to become occupied with the temporary glories of the world, but rather to long for eternal glory and everlasting presence with Christ. The most important thing is to preserve our crown and live faithfully until the end, so that we may be with God wherever He is.
