The Covenant between God and humankind

⬇️ تحميل الفيديو

This teaching addresses the importance of the covenant that connects God with humanity, explaining that their relationship is based on divine promises and mutual spiritual commitments. It explains that God established covenants with humanity from the beginning of creation, including the covenant of salvation, the covenant with Noah after the flood, and the covenant with Abraham and his descendants. It also explains that the Holy Bible, in both its Old and New Covenants, is a covenant between God and humanity, containing divine commandments that God calls people to keep and put into practice. It emphasizes that God is faithful to His covenants and promises, while people often neglect to fulfill their commitments before God.

Spiritual Message

The teaching emphasizes that the covenant with God is not merely words or promises spoken without commitment, but a genuine relationship that requires faithfulness, obedience, and fulfillment. It explains that the sacraments of the Church contain spiritual covenants: in Baptism, a person commits to renouncing Satan and his evil works; in the sacrament of Holy Chrismation, the person receives the gift of the Holy Spirit to become His temple; and in the sacrament of Repentance, the person commits to abandoning sin and beginning a new life. The sacrament of Holy Communion is also a new covenant connected with the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, shed for the forgiveness of sins, and calls the believer to preserve the holiness of his life. The teaching emphasizes that true repentance is not limited to asking for forgiveness, but requires a commitment not to return to the old life.

Educational Lesson

The teaching explains that keeping God’s commandments is a sign of the sincerity of one’s relationship with Him, and that being a child of God is not merely a title, but is demonstrated through righteous conduct and walking according to God’s will. It cites examples from the Bible, such as Jonathan’s faithfulness to his covenant with David, to show that fulfilling a covenant is a duty even when it requires a cost or sacrifice. It also warns against making numerous vows and promises that are not fulfilled, referring to the teaching of the Book of Ecclesiastes about the need not to be hasty in speaking before God and to fulfill what a person vows. It shows that the blessings associated with God’s covenant call a person to listen to His voice and keep His commandments, and that true faith should be manifested in practical life.

Practical Application

The teaching calls every person to examine himself before God and remember the covenants and promises he has made to Him, whether they were expressed openly in words or are connected with the sacraments of the Church. It encourages the believer to examine his life, identify the commandments and commitments he has neglected to fulfill, and then begin fulfilling them from this moment onward. It also emphasizes the importance of remaining faithful to the covenants of Baptism, Repentance, and Holy Communion, and not returning to old sins after receiving forgiveness. A person should also avoid making hasty promises and should make a vow only with seriousness and a readiness to fulfill it. The goal is for the believer to live a steadfast life in the Lord, faithful to his covenant with Him, and continually advancing in the life of grace without returning to the shortcomings of the past.
