Question
I am a very shy person. This shyness saddens me despite my desire to be a servant. So how can I give lessons to children when I am even shy in front of children?
Answer
It seems to me that this is an exaggerated degree of shyness.
*Begin with the children, not by giving them lessons, but by playing with them and talking with them. Be sure that they will encourage you with their boldness and simplicity. Let your interaction first be with the children of the family. Then practice not being shy in your dealings with the members of your family at home, then with guests, friends, or your colleagues at work.
*If you do not begin by speaking, encourage yourself to respond to all of these people, even if briefly at first, and then become more expansive. A person is shy of speaking because he fears making a mistake in what he says. Gradually, each time you find that you have spoken without making a mistake, this will encourage you to continue talking.
*You can speak first about matters that you have studied well, or about which you have certain knowledge. Then gradually move on to expressing your opinion on any subject according to the degree of your intelligence.
