It is truly unfortunate that many of the faithful and devoted priests are wronged by the people by consuming their time without mercy!
How easy it is for some people to call one of the priests after midnight in a telephone conversation that may be lengthy, followed by another telephone call from a second person and a third… as though the priest has no right to rest, or to organize his time among his various responsibilities!
Or some may call him at noon while he is having his meal, and not give him an opportunity to eat his food in peace.
Or some do not know how to concentrate during confession, so they take a long time that they do not deserve, followed by a long line of penitents who are similarly lacking in concentration. The priest leaves receiving confessions exhausted, while there are still many who have not yet confessed…
Or some go to the priest’s house, asking to meet him at his home to solve their problems, which deprives him of his privacy in his family life! And this causes many wives of candidates for the priesthood to refuse to become wives of priests, because of the irregularity of the priest’s private life and time..!
Exhausting the priest in his time is also exhausting for him in his health. While his time and health are necessary for serving the people and for their benefit.
Therefore, please be considerate of the priest regarding his time and his health…
I tell you this through the pages of the magazine because many of the good priests are prevented by their shyness from saying everything that we have written.
Their shyness may also prevent them from apologizing for this sometimes. And those with needs do not accept their excuses from them; rather, unfortunately, they may harshly accuse them of negligence in caring for them.
