Everyone
The Didascalia says: “Let the bishop care for everyone, so that he may save him.” And the expression “care” does not mean formalities or official procedures, but rather the genuine concern of the heart for the salvation of people.
And the expression “everyone” means that he does not forget anyone, whoever they may be. Therefore, the priest says in the Midnight Prayer: “Remember, O Lord, the incapacitated, the forsaken, and those who have no one to remember them.”
How great is the responsibility of the shepherd.
If he cares for the ninety-nine and forgets the one who remains, he must give an account for him before God.
The living conscience does not rejoice in the great number of those who attend the Church; rather, it thinks deeply about those who did not attend.
And the bishop cannot do all of this alone, but rather he needs assistants from priests and deacons, so that they may care with him for everyone.
