Teaching religion is not merely instruction, but life. “Religion is a life transmitted from spirit to spirit more than it is a thought transmitted from mind to mind,” as His Holiness Pope Shenouda III said. Therefore, attention was given to those who teach religion, by preparing them spiritually and teaching them methods of teaching it….
Would that those interested in this would hold regular meetings to achieve this goal, at a fixed time, with a comprehensive program, conducted by specialists whose experience could be benefited from—and how many of them there are in the Church now, thanks to the spread of branches of the Clerical College and institutes of specialized spiritual knowledge, thanks to the leadership of His Holiness the Pope, may God prolong his life….
And how desirable it would be if the preparation of religion teachers were under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, as a basic subject in schools, for which we thank the state…. This would be through training courses belonging to the training program, like any other important subject.
