Does a Priest’s Wife Confess to Him?

Does a Priest’s Wife Confess to Him?
Question
Is it permissible for a priest’s wife to make her confession to her husband, the priest?
Answer
Canonically, there is nothing that prevents this, especially if there is no other priest in the town. However, from a social standpoint, it may not be preferable, particularly if there is more than one priest or more than one church in the town.
But if she chooses her husband to be her father confessor because he is more familiar with her circumstances, and in order to keep the family’s matters confidential, then she is free to do so.
