The Way of Presenting a Matter

The Way of Presenting a Matter
Someone may have a matter that he wishes to present to a leader or a person in authority in order to obtain his approval.
Unfortunately, however, he may present the matter in the wrong way, producing the opposite result—ending with the rejection of his request or with no decision being made at all.
He may present his request with excessive insistence, stubbornly pressing for what he wants and demanding immediate implementation, right now, leaving no opportunity for the person he is addressing to think about it or study it.
Or he may present his request in a manner filled with harsh complaints, or with attack and reproach in an unacceptable way. Or he may exaggerate so much that his words lose their credibility, making it necessary to examine and investigate the matter, thus delaying a decision. Meanwhile, another person presents his matter in a calm and agreeable manner and obtains what he wants.
