The lecture discusses the concept of the spiritual servant and the meaning of true service in the Church, explaining that the servant is not merely a teacher who conveys information, but a person who carries the Spirit of God and spiritually influences the lives of others.

Main Idea

His Holiness Pope Shenouda III emphasizes that the difference between a teacher and a servant is that the teacher provides information, while the servant conveys life, spirit, and power that affect hearts and lead people to God. The words that come from the true servant carry the power of the Holy Spirit and are able to move souls toward repentance and spiritual action.

Preparation of the Servant

His Holiness Pope Shenouda III explains that preparing a servant does not depend only on study or intellectual preparation, but begins with preparing the self and the spirit. The servant needs to be filled with the Holy Spirit so that his service may be fruitful and capable of making a real impact on others.

Example Before Teaching

His Holiness Pope Shenouda III stresses that the servant teaches through his behavior before his words. Disciples are influenced by the servant’s life, actions, looks, and way of dealing with others more than by the information he presents. Therefore, the servant must first be careful with himself so that he may provide a good example for others.

Fruits of the Spiritual Life

The true servant is a person who has experienced Christ and lived with Him, and therefore can lead others to love God. When people see him, they perceive in his life a spiritual image that reflects the presence of God and His work.

Responsibility of the Servant

The lecture emphasizes that children and youth observe everything that comes from the servant and imitate it. Therefore, every action or behavior leaves an effect on their souls. Hence comes the importance of a life of holiness and spiritual growth for the servant.

General Message

True service is not merely teaching or activity, but a spiritual life lived by the servant with God, so that his life becomes a living message that leads others to Christ through example and the working of the Holy Spirit within him.
