Committees of the Holy Synod
The committees of the Holy Synod held their meetings under the presidency of His Holiness the Pope, and in the presence of His Grace Bishop Bishoy, Secretary of the Synod, in order to organize their ongoing work. These meetings took place during the period from August 2 to August 28.
Monasticism Committee:
The Monasticism Committee held its meeting in the presence of Their Graces:
- Bishop Sarabamon, Abbot of the Monastery of Saint Anba Bishoy.
- Bishop Hedra, Abbot of the Monastery of Saint Anba Pachomius.
- Bishop Arsanius, Abbot of the Monastery of the Virgin Mary (Al-Baramous).
- Bishop Dioscorus, Administrator of the Monastery of Saint Anba Antony.
- Bishop Mina, Abbot of the Monastery of Saint Mar Mina.
- Bishop Sawirus, Abbot of the Monastery of the Virgin Mary (Al-Muharraq).
- Bishop Mina, Abbot of the Monastery of Saint Anba Samuel.
- Bishop Bemwa (representing the ancient monasteries).
- Hegumen Bakhourion the Antonian.
His Grace Bishop Theophilus was absent due to illness, and Bishop Agathon due to travel.
The committee examined the rules and regulations necessary for monastic life and will soon study the issuance of a monastic statute.
Liturgy Committee:
The Liturgy Committee also held its meeting in the presence of Their Graces:
- Bishop Maximus
- Bishop Bishoy
- Bishop Sarabamon
- Bishop Wissa
- Bishop Hedra
- Bishop Yakoubos
- Bishop Benjamin
- Bishop Dioscorus
- Bishop Serapion
- Hegumen Marcus Ghaly, Patriarchal Vicar
The committee reviewed a large number of liturgical matters and decided to hold another meeting in the coming month to continue its study.
