The lecture explains that true fasting is not limited to abstaining from food, but it is an opportunity to nourish the spirit through prayer and connection with God. Fasting without a deep spiritual life is considered incomplete and lacks true fruit.

Fasting and Spiritual Nourishment

Fasting is not merely depriving the body, but a means to give the spirit a chance to grow and be nourished by the word of God. Therefore, fasting is not sound unless accompanied by spiritual nourishment such as prayer, meditation, and reading the Holy Bible.

The concept of prayer

Prayer is not مجرد words spoken, but a living relationship with God, and a union between the human spirit and the Spirit of God. It is a deep inner feeling of love for God and longing for Him, and it may exist without words.

Heartfelt Prayer

True prayer comes from the heart before the lips, and it is an expression of love and need for God. God does not ask for words, but asks for the heart. Prayer without a heart is not accepted, while a heart longing for God is considered true prayer.

The Relationship Between Prayer and Love

There is a mutual relationship between prayer and the love of God; prayer leads to love, and love leads to prayer. A person can begin with either to reach the other.

Honest Prayer

Accepted prayer is that which is done with honesty and openness before God, where a person reveals their heart with all its weakness and sins without falseness. God wants the person as they are, to work in them and change them.

Struggle in Prayer

Prayer requires spiritual struggle, holding onto God with persistence, and continuous طلب for His love and transformation of life. It is not repetition of words, but pouring out oneself before God deeply.

Spiritual Goal

The goal of fasting and prayer is for God to become the center of a person’s life, to be freed from attachments to the world, and to experience a true and deep relationship with Him.
